Here’s what that looks like in practice.
It Starts With a Medical Evaluation
Before medication is prescribed, your Oregon Telemed provider reviews your individual health history.
That conversation may include:
- Current medications and supplements
- Allergies
- Existing medical conditions
- Previous weight management efforts
- Relevant family medical history
- Your goals and expectations
- Potential medication risks or interactions
- Whether laboratory testing may be appropriate
This is an important first step because GLP-1 treatment is not appropriate for everyone.
Scheduling a GLP-1 visit does not guarantee that medication will be prescribed. Your provider determines whether treatment is clinically appropriate based on your individual situation.

Your Treatment Plan Is Individualized
If GLP-1 treatment is appropriate, your provider will review the recommended plan with you.
Oregon Telemed’s current program offers a compounded sublingual tirzepatide microdosing option, when prescribed and clinically appropriate.
“Sublingual” means the medication is taken by mouth rather than by injection.
Your provider will discuss what to expect from treatment, including:
- How to take your prescribed medication
- Possible side effects
- What symptoms to watch for
- Lifestyle considerations
- When to contact your provider or pharmacist
- What follow-up may be appropriate
Treatment needs can change over time, so your care plan may also change based on how you respond.
Pharmacy Support Is Part of the Program
Medication questions don’t always happen during a scheduled medical appointment.
That’s one reason pharmacy support is built into Oregon Telemed’s current GLP-1 program.
When compounded medication is prescribed, it is coordinated through Broadway Apothecary, an Oregon compounding pharmacy located in Eugene.
Patients have access to Broadway Apothecary pharmacy support for questions about their prescribed medication and how to use it.
Medication delivery is also included in the standard treatment structure.
Having both a medical provider and pharmacy team involved means patients have somewhere to turn when questions come up.
Follow-Up Doesn’t Have to Mean an Appointment Every Month
One common question patients have is how frequently they will need to meet with a medical provider.
During the first 60 days, Oregon Telemed plans to check in at approximately one month to see how treatment is going.
For patients doing well, that check-in may be completed without requiring another full provider appointment.
If you are experiencing side effects, have concerns, or feel that you need to speak with your provider, an additional telehealth visit can be scheduled when appropriate.
Patients who are stable may then continue with approximately one maintenance telehealth visit every 60 days.
The goal is to provide appropriate medical oversight without automatically requiring unnecessary visits when treatment is going smoothly.
What Does the Standard Treatment Period Include?
Oregon Telemed’s current program is organized around approximately a 60-day medication supply rather than a traditional monthly membership.

The standard starting plan includes:
- Initial GLP-1 medical evaluation
- Approximately 60 days of compounded sublingual tirzepatide, if prescribed
- Medication delivery
- Broadway Apothecary pharmacy support
- One-month treatment check-in
A $30 booking deposit is collected when the initial appointment is scheduled and applied toward the first 60-day cost.
The booking deposit is part of the starting price, not an additional $30 added on top.
Ongoing Care
For patients following the standard maintenance schedule, ongoing care starts at approximately:
$195 per month
or about:
$390 every 60 days
Standard ongoing care includes:
- Approximately 60 days of medication
- One Oregon Telemed maintenance telehealth visit
- Continued pharmacy support
Individual treatment needs vary. Medication needs, laboratory testing, additional provider visits, or changes to the treatment plan may affect total cost.
Why Does Medical Oversight Matter?
GLP-1 medications can cause side effects, and treatment can affect people differently.
Commonly reported side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, bloating, abdominal discomfort, reflux, reduced appetite, and dehydration.
Some side effects can be more serious.
Medical oversight gives your care team an opportunity to consider your health history before treatment begins and to help you understand what to watch for once treatment starts.
It also means you have a clearer path for getting help if something doesn’t feel right.
What About Compounded Medication?
Compounded medications are different from FDA-approved prescription products.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, meaning FDA does not review individual compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed.
That makes transparency particularly important.
Patients should know:
- What medication is being prescribed
- Which pharmacy is preparing it
- How the medication should be used
- Who they can contact with questions
