GLP-1 Weight Management: Oregon Telemed Program & Pricing
If you’ve been considering GLP-1 medication for weight management, one of the hardest parts can be figuring out exactly what different programs offer.
Who will you meet with? Is medication included? Where does the prescription come from? What happens if you have questions after you start? And perhaps most importantly: what will it actually cost?
Oregon Telemed is now offering a new GLP-1 weight management program for eligible patients in Oregon, designed around straightforward pricing, virtual access to Oregon-based medical providers, and ongoing pharmacy support.
Here’s what you should know about the program, how it works, and what is included.
Introducing Oregon Telemed’s GLP-1 Weight Management Program
GLP-1 medications are increasingly being used as part of a medically guided approach to long-term weight management and metabolic health.
Rather than simply providing access to medication, Oregon Telemed’s program is designed to give patients a care team throughout the process.
Your treatment begins with a virtual medical evaluation with an Oregon-based provider. If GLP-1 treatment is determined to be appropriate for you, medication can be prescribed and coordinated through Broadway Apothecary, with additional pharmacist guidance and medication support available through Broadway InTouch.
The program is offered through telehealth, making it possible to meet with your provider from home or another private location while you are physically located in Oregon.
You can also review an overview of the program on our GLP-1 Weight Management Care page.
How Does the Oregon Telemed GLP-1 Program Work?
We’ve tried to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Step 1: Schedule Your Virtual Appointment
The first step is to schedule a GLP-1 weight management visit with Oregon Telemed.
Appointments take place by secure video. You’ll need a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer with a camera, microphone, and reliable internet connection.
Patients must be physically located in Oregon at the time of the telehealth visit.
You can schedule an Oregon Telemed appointment online when you are ready to get started.
Step 2: Meet With an Oregon-Based Medical Provider
During your appointment, your provider will review your individual health history and discuss your weight management goals.
Your evaluation may include a review of:
- Current medications and supplements
- Allergies
- Medical history
- Previous weight management efforts
- Existing health conditions
- Relevant family medical history
- Your goals and expectations
- Potential medication risks or interactions
Some patients may also need recent laboratory testing before beginning or continuing treatment.
This evaluation is an important part of the process because GLP-1 medication is not appropriate for everyone.
Oregon Telemed’s team includes experienced medical providers who have been caring for patients in Oregon communities for decades. You can meet the Oregon Telemed providers here.
Step 3: Determine Whether GLP-1 Treatment Is Appropriate
After reviewing your health history, your provider will discuss whether GLP-1 treatment may be appropriate for you.
Medication is not automatically prescribed simply because you schedule an appointment.
If treatment is appropriate, your provider will explain your treatment plan, what to expect, possible side effects, follow-up needs, and when you should contact your provider or pharmacist.
Oregon Telemed’s standard bundled program currently includes compounded sublingual semaglutide when prescribed and clinically appropriate.
“Sublingual” means the medication is taken by mouth rather than by injection. Your provider and pharmacist will give you specific instructions for the medication prescribed to you.
Step 4: Your Medication Is Coordinated Through Broadway Apothecary
If medication is prescribed, it is coordinated through Broadway Apothecary, an Oregon compounding pharmacy located in Eugene.
Broadway Apothecary works with Oregon Telemed to provide the medication and additional pharmacy support for patients participating in the program.
Patients also have access to the Broadway InTouch program, which provides pharmacist guidance and medication support as they begin and continue treatment.
That means if questions come up after your appointment, there is a pharmacy team available to help you understand your medication and how to use it.
Step 5: Continue With Ongoing Care and Support
Starting medication is not the end of your care.
Ongoing participation in the program includes continued medication access and support while treatment remains medically appropriate.
Your care plan may change over time based on how you are responding to treatment, your health needs, possible side effects, and recommendations from your medical provider or pharmacist.
The goal is not simply to provide medication. It is to offer a more supported approach to long-term weight management.
What Is Included in Oregon Telemed’s GLP-1 Program?
One of the things we wanted to make especially clear is what patients are actually paying for.
For eligible patients, the bundled program includes:

Frequently Asked Questions About Oregon Telemed’s GLP-1 Program
Can I Get GLP-1 Medication Through Oregon Telemed?
Possibly.
You’ll first meet with an Oregon Telemed provider who will review your medical history and determine whether GLP-1 treatment is medically appropriate.
Medication is not guaranteed and is prescribed only when clinically appropriate.
Is Medication Included in the Monthly Price?
Yes.
The bundled program includes the standard compounded sublingual semaglutide medication plan when prescribed.
If your provider determines that a different treatment plan, additional evaluation, or laboratory testing is needed, they will explain those next steps to you.
Is the Medication an Injection?
The standard Oregon Telemed program uses sublingual semaglutide, which is taken by mouth rather than by injection.
Your provider and pharmacist will provide specific instructions for your prescription.
Is Compounded Semaglutide FDA-Approved?
No.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. This means the FDA does not review individual compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed.
The FDA recommends that patients using compounded medications receive a prescription from a licensed medical provider and obtain the medication from a state-licensed pharmacy.
You can read more about the FDA’s guidance and concerns regarding compounded GLP-1 medications.
Where Does the Medication Come From?
Medication prescribed through Oregon Telemed’s standard program is coordinated through Broadway Apothecary, a compounding pharmacy located in Eugene, Oregon.
Broadway Apothecary also provides pharmacist support through Broadway InTouch.
Will I Actually Meet With a Medical Provider?
Yes.
Your care starts with a virtual medical visit with an Oregon-based provider.
The appointment allows your provider to review your health history and determine whether treatment may be appropriate for you.
Do I Need Laboratory Testing?
Some patients may need recent lab work before beginning or continuing treatment.
This depends on your individual health history, medications, and risk factors. Your provider will tell you if testing is needed.
What Side Effects Are Possible?
GLP-1 medications can cause side effects.
Common gastrointestinal symptoms can include:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Bloating
- Abdominal discomfort
- Reflux
- Reduced appetite
Dehydration can also occur, particularly if nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea makes it difficult to drink enough fluids.
Some side effects can be more serious.
Your medical provider and pharmacist will discuss what to watch for, how to use your medication, and when symptoms should prompt you to contact your care team or seek medical attention.
How Quickly Will I Lose Weight?
There is no guaranteed timeline or amount of weight loss.
Results vary based on many factors, including your health history, response to medication, nutrition, hydration, physical activity, sleep, stress, and consistency with your treatment plan.
Oregon Telemed’s program is intended to support long-term weight management rather than rapid or guaranteed weight loss.
Do I Have to Live in Oregon?
You do not necessarily have to permanently reside in Oregon, but you must be physically located in Oregon at the time of your Oregon Telemed video visit.
Your provider must be able to legally provide care in the state where you are located during the appointment.
Is the GLP-1 Program Covered by Insurance?
The Oregon Telemed GLP-1 weight management program is structured as a self-pay bundled program.
Insurance coverage for GLP-1 and other weight management medications varies considerably between plans.
What Happens If I Have Questions After Starting Medication?
You are not expected to navigate treatment entirely on your own.
The program includes continued Oregon Telemed care as well as pharmacist support through Broadway Apothecary and Broadway InTouch.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, you should seek emergency medical care rather than waiting for a telehealth response.
